The Literary Phoenix

Funny, the damage a silly little book can do. Especially in the hands of a silly little girl.

It’s difficult to turn on the news and not get slammed with the latest on the Kardashians, or Katy Perry’s divorce, or who wore what hideous dress to the Oscars.  You hear a lot about the actors and musical artists and the fabulously wealthy… but not so much about the writers.

Out of pure curiosity, I perused the internet looking to see if authors got hounded by the press, the way other celebrities do.  I figured the big names like Stephanie Meyer and J.K Rowling would have gotten a little bit abuse.  Shockingly, a Google Search of “writer paparazzi,” “author paparazzi,” “Stephanie Meyer paparazzi,” and other similar searches revealed very little information at all.  The only instance of an extremely abusive paparazzi that I can find is a complaint and lawsuit placed by JK Rowling when the paparazzi took a picture of her eight-year-old in a bathing suit.  Rowling has a great deal of things to say about the abuse of the paparazzi, but as far as I can tell, she is the only one.

For anybody out there who was hoping for fame, fortune, and a minute in the limelight by being a writer… don’t hold your breath!
