The Literary Phoenix

Funny, the damage a silly little book can do. Especially in the hands of a silly little girl.

I always have a gazillion books that I am working on.  Most of these are scraps that I have started, but thank goodness for NaNoWriMo, now these scraps, too, can become a finished manuscript.  For basic guidance when I start talking about my writing, I have provided this simple list of the books I am working on.  I make covers for them too, because it motivates me.  The images are all stolen off google, and lots of the faces are rather obviously celebrities.  If you recognize one of the images as yours, I’d be happy to give you credit – the only thing I am responsible for is the composition.

  1. Scriptor Obscura says:

Do you design your covers yourself, or do you have someone else do them for you? If you do them yourself, how? What’s your secret? What programs do you use to do it, what photo editing websites/software etc? And where ever do you get the images of all of the people from??? I would like to know how to make and format covers like this because I think that these covers look beautiful and I would love to be able to make such covers for myself sometime! 🙂

    1. Why thank you! I make them myself (I do contract work in Graphic Design), using Adobe Photoshop CS5, and most of the images are high res. Google Image results. They are not my property at all – I use them for motivation or inspiration (I am a very visual person). I think it’s great that you want to make your own, but by conscious of image and font liscencing! Most photographs and fonts are copyrighted and are only allowed for personal use.
